The water soluble 5(6)-FAM PEG3 azide has a long PEG3 spacer that separates the dye carboxyfluorescein (commonly known as FAM) from the terminal azide group. The water-soluble PEG3 spacer should minimize the interaction between the dye and the biomolecule to be labeled. 5(6)-FAM PEG3 azide is an excellent alkyne-reactive fluorescent reagent for labeling alkyne-containing biological molecules through click chemistry.
