SiR-DBCO is a far-red fluorescent probe containg DBCO moiety for click chemustry apploications. DBCO, or dibenzocyclooctyne, is a key reagent in click chemistry, specifically used in the strain-promoted azide-alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) reaction. In SPAAC, DBCO reacts with an azide group to form a stable triazole ring, linking two molecules covalently. Unlike the classic copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC), which uses copper(I) to accelerate the reaction between a terminal alkyne and an azide, SPAAC is copper-free. The strain in DBCO’s cyclooctyne ring drives the reaction forward by releasing energy when it transitions to the triazole product, eliminating the need for a catalyst. This is a big advantage in living systems, where copper can be toxic or interfere with biological processes. SiR (SiR-6-COOH, 652Ex/674Em) is a far-red fluorescent dye that is bright, photostable, and cell-permeable, and it is fully compatible with standard Cy5 filter sets.
