HaloTag is a self-labeling protein derived from the haloalkane dehalogenase DhaA from Rhodococcus rhodochrous. Its active site reacts with chloroalkane substrates to form an irreversible bond. The covalent linkage between the HaloTag ligand and HaloTag protein enables rapid isolation and purification. HaloTag Biotin Ligand can be used for protein biotinylation. It is an equivalent of Promega product G8281 and G8282.
