5-TAMRA is the purified single isomer of 5(6)-TAMRA. It is widely used to label peptides and proteins. Readily excited by the 546 nm spectral line from mercury-arc lamps used in fluorescent microscopes, and is intrinsically more photostable than fluorescein. 5-TAMRA has also achieved prominence as a dye for oligonucleotide labeling and automated DNA sequencing applications.
