HaloTag is a self-labeling protein derived from the haloalkane dehalogenase DhaA from Rhodococcus rhodochrous. Its active site reacts with chloroalkane substrates to form an irreversible bond. The covalent linkage between the HaloTag ligand and HaloTag protein enables rapid isolation and purification. CA-Alexa Fluor 488 is a HaloTag fluorescent ligand and can be used to label cell surface proteins(494Ex/517Em).
